With the double skin facade high performance glass next to planter areas will be exposed to higher humidity and wet surroundings. The unprotected glass surface will subject to higher water and moisture attack. Glass in contact with water enters into a series of complex chemical reactions which result in alkaline solutions. Water alone can damage the surface of glass. Certain types of hard water, for instance, may leave harmful deposits if allowed to dry on glass surfaces.
The ClearShield Eco-System™ Solution
ClearShield Eco-System™ was a part of green features for the project. It provided long term glass protection to the double-skin high performance glass in the planter areas. A challenging site application was done before the project handover. Treated with ClearShield Eco-System™, the glass is low-maintenance (Low-M), always easier to clean and keep clean, resists both organic and inorganic substances that chemically bond to the glass, maintaining its original light transmission, clarity and clean ability.
To the building maintenance this means the double skin high performance glass in the planter areas is always much easier to clean and keep clean, and resists staining, maintaining visibility, clarity & appearance. This reduced the cleaning cycle by at least 50%, saving not only money, time, and effort, but also minimised their corporate carbon footprint.

The ClearShield Eco-System™ Solution
Approximately 34,500m² of glass was treated with ClearShield® in the factory prior to installation. This meant any harsh inorganic contaminants on the glass, such as concrete splatter and cement dust, was easier to remove during construction. Therefore ClearShield® reduced potential costly delays during construction and provided a significantly lower-cost alternative to replacing the glass due to surface damage.
The WTC II officially opened in 2012. It was awarded the Building and Construction Authority Green Mark – a meaningful distinction of environmentally responsible buildings, brought forth by a reduction in water and energy bills, of which ClearShield® are proud to have contributed towards this achievement.

A Glass Act from Ritec as Queen Launches Sparkling New Super Liner
The largest addition to the P&O Cruises fleet, Britannia, has set sail with its extensive glass elements protected from the harsh effects of the marine environment thanks to Ritec Marine Services, a subsidiary of Ritec International Ltd. The £473m ship, launched by the Queen in March, is the latest in a long list of cruise ships to be treated with the award-winning ClearShield Eco-System™ which upgrades the glass to ClearShield Eco-Glass™ that provides protection from sea spray and other corrosive elements. Moisture, Alkalinity and Dirt (MAD) can easily cause marine glass, exterior or interior, to become problem Glass. Unless glass is protected against MAD, it can easily break these promises before, during or after installation – with serious consequences for all. Top Jeweller in Budapest Enhances Glittering with ClearShield Eco-System™
Local glass construction specialist, Alba Brothers, designed and installed the glass for the new jewellers in the heart of Hungary’s capital city. As licensed applicators, Alba used the ClearShield Eco-System™ to upgrade internal & external glass to make them ‘non-stick’ and easy to clean, so they stay looking like new for longer and with significantly less maintenance. The project demonstrates the System’s versatility for application onto internal and external glass both in the factory or in-situ to glass already installed. Sandblasted surfaces and deep sandblasted logos on the glass door were upgraded to ClearShield Low-M®(Low-Maintenance) Glass in Alba Brothers’ factory before being installed. The existing store’s glass entrance portal was upgraded to ClearShield Low-M® Glass in-situ following a specialist renovation process. Glass cabinets inside the store were also upgraded in-situ to provide an effective barrier against unsightly finger marks from frequent handling by staff and customers, and keep the glass quick and easier to clean. The owner of the new diamond store is delighted with the results, says Zoltan Csizmadia of Alba Brothers, “Unprotected glass in his other outlets requires monthly maintenance, while the ClearShield Low-M Glass in the new store only needs cleaning every three months to keep it in pristine condition, which is a major saving in time and cost.”
